Objectives: In the occupational field, the phenomenon of stress and psychological strain is an inevitable part of professional life. The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of a group training package based on cognitive empowerment on the job burnout of police officers.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a one-month follow-up. The statistical population included all police officers in Urmia in 2025, of which 30 people were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria as a research sample and by convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (15 people in each group). The measurement tool in this study was the Maslach et al. (1996) burnout questionnaire. The experimental group underwent 8 sessions (2 sessions per week for 60 minutes) of a training package based on cognitive empowerment, and the control group did not receive any intervention. Statistical data analysis was performed using the analysis of variance with repeated measures method.
Findings: The results of data analysis showed that after the intervention, the effect of the cognitive empowerment-based training package on police burnout was significant, and these positive effects remained stable during the follow-up period.
Conclusion: Given the effectiveness of the cognitive empowerment-based group training package on police burnout, it is recommended that counselors and therapists use this method along with other intervention methods to reduce police burnout.
