Aims: Methamphetamine is a stimulant. Most addicts tend to change the drug-dependent lifestyle. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of mindfulness-based relapse prevention on distress and temptation tolerance in methamphetamine dependent patients.

Materials & Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted with a pre-test, post-test and control group in methamphetamine users, who were referred to short-term addiction treatment centers, methadone therapy addiction centers, and prisons of Kashan, and 40 patients with methamphetamine dependency were entered to the study. Distress tolerance was measured by Distress Tolerance Scale (DTS) and temptation was measured by Craving Beliefs Questionnaire (CBQ).

Findings: T There was a significant difference between the mean of the experimental group and the control group in the post-test in distress tolerance (p=0.001) and temptation tolerance (p=0.001).

Conclusion: Mindfulness-based relapse prevention affects distress and temptation tolerance in methamphetamine dependent patients, and also reduces anxiety and intellectual rumination.
