اهداف: از سه عامل موثر انسان، جاده و وسیله نقلیه در بروز حوادث ترافیکی، عوامل انسانی بیشترین سهم را در بروز حوادث ترافیکی دارد. سلامت پزشکی رانندگان یکی از ابعاد عوامل انسانی محسوب می‌شود. هدف از این مطالعه ارزیابی سلامت رانندگان و تعیین عوامل پیش‌بینی‌کننده بروز حوادث ترافیکی در رانندگان متخلف بود.
مواد و روش‌ها: مطالعه مقطعی حاضر در تهران در طی سال‌های 1394 تا 1396 انجام شد. 360 نفر از میان رانندگان متخلفی که ماشین آنها توسط پلیس توقیف شده بود، به طور در دسترس انتخاب شدند. برای جمع‌آوری داده‌ها، از پرسشنامه های جمعیت شناختی و پرسشنامه غربالگری سلامت رانندگان استفاده شد. تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها با نرم‌افزار SPSS ویرایش 23 انجام شد.
یافته‌ها: در این مطالعه، 328 نفر مرد (1/91%) و 32 نفر زن (9/8%) از رانندگان متخلف ارزیابی شدند. سلامت رانندگان با متغیرهای جمعیت‌شناختی ارتباط معنیداری داشت (p<0.01). از بین متغیرهای جمعیت شناختی، سطح تحصیلات، داشتن تجربه رانندگی، نوع شغل، سطح درآمد، نوع ماشین و سابقه تصادفات در سه سال گذشته و حداکثر سرعت درون‌شهری ارتباط معنیداری با سلامت رانندگان داشت(p<0.01). بر اساس نتیجه آنالیز رگرسیون، وضعیت سلامت رانندگان متخلف یک فاکتور تاثیرگذار در بروز حوادث ترافیکی محسوب شد (p<0.001).
نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به رابطه معنی‌دار و مستقیم بین سلامت رانندگان و بروز حوادث ترافیکی، میتوان با ارتقای سلامت رانندگان از وقوع بخشی از تصادفات جاده‌ای جلوگیری کرد. با در نظر گرفتن اهمیت و حساسیت رانندگی در رخداد تصادفات جاده‌ای، انجام ارزیابی‌های جسمی جامع‌تری در بین رانندگان قبل از دریافت گواهینامه و بعد از آن به صورت دوره‌ای ضروری به نظر می‌رسد.
