اهداف: سلامت روان به عنوان یکی از مؤلفه‌های مهم بهداشت عمومی، ایجادکننده توازن در زندگی و مقاومت در برابر مشکلات است. هدف از این پژوهش بررسی رابطه هوش هیجانی و سلامت روان زندانیان بود.
مواد و روش‌ها: این پژوهش توصیفی-همبستگی بر ۶۱۴ نفر از زندانیان زندان عادل‌آباد شیراز انجام شد. نمونه‌ها به روش نمونه‌گیری تصادفی سیستماتیک انتخاب شدند. به منظور گردآوری داده‌ها از پرسش‌نامه هوش هیجانی برادبری-گریوز و چک‌لیست سنجش نشانه‌های اختلال روان‌شناختی استفاده شد. روابط ابعاد مختلف هوش هیجانی و علایم اختلال روان‌شناختی با استفاده از ضریب همبستگی پیرسون و تحلیل رگرسیون همزمان در قالب نرم‌افزار SPSS ۲۳ بررسی شدند..
یافته‌ها: میانگین علایم اختلالات روان‌شناختی ۴۲/۱۷±۳۱/۶۰ و هوش هیجانی کلی ۴۶/۱۴±۲۲/۹۷ به‌دست آمد. هوش هیجانی کلی با علایم اختلالات روان‌شناختی رابطه منفی و معناداری (۲۳/۰r=؛ ۰۰۱/۰p<) داشت. میان ابعاد مختلف هوش هیجانی و علایم اختلالات روان‌شناختی نیز رابطه منفی و معناداری در سطح ۰۰۱/۰p< مشاهده شد.
نتیجه‌گیری: هوش هیجانی در زندان نیز همانند شرایط عادی می‌تواند ابزار مناسبی برای مقابله با استرس باشد و سلامت روانی فرد را موجب شود. در شرایط خاص زندان، بُعد مدیریت رابطه از ابعاد هوش هیجانی نقش مهم‌تری ایفا می‌کند.
