About Police Medicine
Police medicine is the power of the police headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is in line with the realization of its goals of maintaining the health and capability of the security guards of the society. Police medicine is a field of health sciences that deals with those issues related to health that are directly or indirectly related to public safety and health and address them not only in terms of health but also in terms of security. For this reason, in addition to medical knowledge, police headquarters personnel must also have the necessary competencies. Due to its structure, mission, and nature police medicine is highly specialized, and the specific nature of missions and the description of their duties make it necessary in many cases for the cooperation of specialized forces in various fields. The structure of police medicine requires that it always keep pace with the latest developments in technology and knowledge, and requires both basic and applied research. The functional areas of police medicine are not just issues related to medicine or health. Research that can be done and has an effective application in the field of police medicine is the application of medical sciences, psychology, biology, genetics, and laboratory sciences in policy issues. On the other hand, many areas of police headquarter function are specific to themselves (for example, aeronautical medicine in the Iranian Police Aviation due to the presence of police in specific flight conditions). Since the main issue for the survival of human beings is maintaining health, attention to medicine has always been a human concern. Police medicine, which is more specialized in nature than military medicine, has attracted the attention of scientific communities due to the special missions of the police, such as the police in critical situations such as hostage-taking, bomb blasts, Dealing with armed villains, nuclear/biological/chemical terrorist operations, urban riots. , Accidents with High Injuries (MCI), Traffic Accidents, Rescue and Transfer (Land, Air, Sea), and Care and Treatment of Defendants are actively present.
