Authors’ Guidelines
Objectives and activities of the police medicine journal with the proprietor of the Department of Health, Relief and Treatment of the police rated Journal of Medical Sciences, Research Center, affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education. This journal with 4 issues per year as a quarterly, which is in the language of Persian associated with English abstract, aimed at improving knowledge in the field of police medicine, and provided  research findings to practitioners, researchers and students in this field are published. The journal is ready to accept and publish scientific papers in the following areas:
1. Trauma and police force medicine: accidents caused by weapons, firearms, occupational injuries, ballistics medicine
2. Crisis Management: Urban crisis management, disaster medicine, pandemic crisis control
3. police and Social Psychology: Psychology of Crime and Delinquency, psychological disturbances and violent behavior, psychology of social groups, and  mental health police staff
4. Aspects of medical ethics in police force medicine:  medical ethics in healthcare police personnel, medical ethics in dealing with suspects, medical ethics and research
5. Police health and pandemic: hygiene in particular condition and crises, developing of  hygienic indicators, hygienic education, hygiene in  police center and barracks, the public health perspective, the study of anthropometric design, boots, clothes and so on.
6. Managing and improve quality of Hospitals and medical centers :the impact of leadership style (leadership on employee performance), evaluation agencies (agencies, hospitals and universities).
7. Emergency medicine: first aid and transport, managing of  Rescue and transport, pre-hospital medicine
8. Police nutrition:  nutrition and water sanitation, nutrition economy
9. Traffic Medicine: screening of drivers, obtain the drivers' health, physical and psychological effects of traffic
10. Forensics: identification, toxicology, biology death, medical exemption
11. Addiction and Substance Abuse: ultra rapid methods for early diagnosis and prevention of substance abuse, treatment principles.
12. Technologies related to police force medicine: basic studies of medication and medical equipment in police medicine, new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures related to different fields of police medicine, novel engineering of military hospitals in the field of modern organizations, biotechnology (biotechnology and nanotechnology) and Bioinformatics
 Article admission:
This journal publishes Original Articles, Review Articles, Case Report, and Short Communication Articles; all related to the journal goals.
1. Original Articles: these are the articles resulted in new findings.
2. Review Articles: these are the articles by well experience authors and those who have a considerable number of publication in that field ( at least 3 articles)
3. Case Report: Particularly articles containing instructive and research values.
4. Short Communication: can be in form of research articles are like those of original one but they are smaller and prepared in maximum 2000 words.
The manuscript should include: Title page; the Abstract; Introduction; Material & Methods; Results; Discussion; Acknowledgement; References and an English abstract; and attachments (tables, figures, graphs)
The Title page should include the complete title of the manuscript, the name of all authors with their highest qualification, scientific degree, the department or institution, the school and university to which they are affiliated, city and country, address for correspondence with telephone numbers, e-mail, and fax number, all in Persian (Farsi). The same precise information should be also brought in the English abstract.
The abstract should contain structural frame including Title, Background, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion, all prepared between up to 250 words and 3 to 5 keywords at the end.
Authors need to be careful that the abstract reflects the content of the article accurately.
The English abstract should be exactly like the Persian version.
Use terms from the Medical Subject Heading ( MeSH) list of Index Medicus (http://www.nlm..nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html).
Introduction should summarize the purpose and the rationale behind the study. It should neither review the subject extensively nor should it have results or conclusions of the study.
Materials and Methods employed must be precisely stated so that the others could repeatedly do the experiment. If an apparatus is used, its manufacturer’s name and address should be given in parenthesis. If the methods are established, give reference but if the method is new, provide enough information so that another group is able to perform it. If a drug is used, its generic name, dose and route of administration must be given. The study subject (Patients, Laboratory, and Animals) as well as the age, gender and other characteristics with mean age ± standard deviation must be given. Statistical method must be mentioned and specify any general computer program used.
Results must be presented in the form of text, tables and illustrations. The contents of the tables should not be all repeated in the text. Instead, a reference to the table number may be given. Number of graphs, tables and figures should be appropriate with the length of the article (one for 500 to 700 words).Tables should be submitted with the captions placed above. Do not submit tables as photograph. Place explanatory matters in footnotes, not in the heading. Pictures should be in TIF format with resolution of 300 dpi or 300 PPI and if possible with colors intensify of 16M or 24bit. Graphs and images should have good quality and be prepared on separate pages including numbers and topics.
Discussion and Conclusion should emphasize the present finding and the variations or similarities with other works done in the field by other workers. The detailed data should not be repeated in the discussion again. Emphasize the new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions that follow from them. It must be mentioned whether the hypothesis mentioned in the article is true, false or no conclusions can be derived.
Acknowledgement: All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be covered in the acknowledgement section. It should include persons who provided scientific, writing assistance, etc, and those organizations which provided finance and materials.
References: All manuscripts should be accompanied by relevant references. The author should ensure reference to locally published studies by doing proper literature search. References must be cited by consecutive number inside angle brackets in the body of the paper. The references must be written in English and should provide the following information as stated in the presented models as follows (Vancouver style) and Persian references should be mentioned similar to English references followed by word “Persian”.
Article: Surnames and initials of all authors when there are six or less (in case of seven or more authors the first six authors followed by et al should be listed). Title of manuscript. Abbreviated name of journal Year; Vol: page.

Submission : Papers should be submitted in MS-WORD2003 file format, via on-line submission at WWW.Teb.police.ir only with a cover letter from the corresponding author.
Papers must be written with a margin of 1.5 cm on each side, in double space, preferably with Nazanin font size 12(for Persian writing) and Times font size 11 (for Latin writing). Page number should be written in the middle bottom of each page.
Genral Principle
•  Use only standard abbreviations and symbols. Avoid using them in the title and abstract. The full term for which an abbreviation stands [with Exact and clear equivalent Persian word(s)] should precede its first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement. Exact, clear, and common equivalent Persian word(s) of English jargon(s) [ expression(s), technical word(s)] must be used as much as possible.
•  Authors should not send their articles to other journals at the same time before the final result is sent to them by Police Medicine journal.
•  Police Medicine Journal does not publish translated articles.
•  All articles should meet necessary ethical criteria. Ethical considerations should come in methods section. One copy of approval letter from Medical Ethics Committee (human subjects and laboratory animals) of the institute should be included with the manuscript.
•  Informed consent must be obtained from all human participants. The anonymity of patient(s) of papers. The eyes and any other remark(s) of patient(s)helping to recognize the must be covered if necessary and registration in IRCT is essential for clinical trial studies.
•  Conflicts of interest: Authors must acknowledge and declare any sources of funding and potential conflicting interest, such as receiving funds or fees by, or holding stocks and shares in, an organization that may profit or lose through publication of your paper.
•  Page charges: There are no charges for publication in this journal.
•  Publishing the articles which have been already presented in a seminar is accepted.
•  All manuscripts are considered to be confidential. They are peer-reviewed by at least 3 anonymous reviewers selected by Editorial Board. The corresponding author is notified as soon as possible of the decision to accept, reject, or require modifications.
•  A finalized electronic version is sent to the corresponding author for proof reading before publication in order to avoid any mistakes. Corrections should be marked clearly and sent immediately to the journal office.
•  Police Medicine journal is entitled to edit the received manuscripts.
•  Authors are responsible for their article’s content.
•  The entire contents of the Police Medicine Journal are protected under international copyright. This journal is for your personal noncommercial use. You may not modify copy, distribute, transmit, display, or publish any materials contained on the journal without the prior written permission of it or the appropriate copyright owner.
