Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 160 cardiac patients of Be’sat Hospital of Hamadan City, Iran, were selected by accessible sampling method and answered to attachment styles, maladaptive schema and type D personality questionnaires. Data were analyzed by correlation coefficient and multivariate regression methods with SPSS 16 software.

Results: There were significant correlations between type D personality and secure attachment styles (r=-0.237, p<0.001), ambivalence attachment style (r=-0.225, p<0.001), emotional deprivation (r=0.445, p<0.001), abandonment schema (r=0.412, p<0.001), mistrust/abuse schema (r=0.237, p<0.001), social isolation schema (r=0.445, p<0.001) and defectiveness/shame schema (r=0.461, p<0.001). Attachment styles determined 12% and maladaptive schemas determined 44% of type D personality.
